How to change the client deliveries report to be grouped by product category

It may be necessary in some reporting situations to take an existing report and change the way the data is grouped to provide additional summary data. Follow these steps to change the report created in article  Create a report that shows client deliveries so that it is grouped by the client category first.

Note: If you want to keep the original report then you should make a copy of the report.

Edit existing report

Locate the report that is to be altered and select the edit icon in the right hand list.

Go to the Columns tab

Add 2 new columns

Click on the Add Column button twice

Set to Product Category

Change the first column to ProductCategory

Change the second column to ProductCategoryID and check the hide option for the column as we will just use this for filtering.

Go to to the Sorting/Grouping tab

Mark as grouped column

Check the grouped check box

Change the sort order of the ProductCategory column to 2 so that the report is based on the ProductCategory after the client first.

Uncheck the grouped option for the Ticket No. and set the Sort Type to not sorted as the product category will replace this.

Click on the Next button to continue

Note: The other columns will have their sort order changed automatically.

Mark the ProductCategoryID column as Allow Filter so that the report can be filtered on the Product Category if needed.

Click on the Next button to continue

Update the sections

Update the sections

Set the DateOut and Vehicle columns to Detail Only (no aggregate) . Note: If it is showing this when you first go to the screen then select the options again as it may have not been set correctly.

 

Save the report

Save and then view the report

View the report

The report can now be run with current data.

  1. Set the DateOut criteria to a period the report needs to be run for.
  2. Generate the report
