Resident Management - User Groups and Permissions

Overview

In this article we explain how to manage groups and permission within Resident Management.

To view the list of User Groups and Permissions, log into Resident Management and click on the Groups link from the left-hand menu.

By default, all new users are added to a group called “The Default Group”which contains limited access to the system.

Access to Groups and Permissions

NOTE: To access User Groups and Permissions you will need the “VMSProductAdmin” role granted in the naus Platform. Contact your naus platform administrator to arrange access.

 

How to Create a New Group

1/- Select Groups from the left-hand menu.

2/- Select Create Group.

3/- Enter a Group Name  This is the only required field.

4/- Enter a Group Description  The Group Description is free text and is viewable when on the groups page.

5/- Use the checkboxes to assign Permissions to the group.

For more detailed information on each permission type refer to Resident Services - User Permissions.

6/- Click Save.

 

How to Edit or Delete an Existing Group

1/- Select Groups from the left-hand menu.

2/- Click on the ellipsis (three dots) on the right-hand side of an existing group.

3/- Choose Edit or Delete.

If you delete a group remember that users assigned to that group will need to be re-assigned to another group.

 

How to Add Users to a Group

1/- Select Users from the left-hand menu.

NOTE: If you would like to add more users to this list, each user will need “VMS User” permission enabled in the naus Platform. Contact your naus platform administrator to arrange access.

2/- To add or remove a user from a group click the Edit button that appears next to the user’s name.

3/- Next click the Change Group button.

4/- A pop-up will display with a list of groups available.

Select the new group and click “Save” to assign the user to the new user group.

If a group is deleted, then all users in that group will be moved to the “Default group”.

A user that is greyed out in the user list, means that they have had their “VMS User” permission revoked in the naus Platform.
