Mandalay CS 3.2 Vehicle Management in Mandalay CS3AttachmentsHow to setup a new container or trailer attachment

How to setup a new container or trailer attachment

Mandalay CS allows individual containers and trailers to be registered and recorded in a transaction. This allows specific tares to be stored for individual containers and trailers. These tares can then be applied to the transaction along with the main vehicle. A main vehicle record will only need its individual tare stored as the trailer or attachment will be applied with the attachment is included in the transaction.

Vehicle Category

The first step in creating containers or trailers is to create vehicle categories for each type of attachment you wish to record.

Start the Administration program and locate the Categories tab.

Change the Advanced Search filter to show vehicle categories

  1. Press the Add button to create a new category.
  2. Set the name of the category.
  3. The type should be automatically set to Vehicle Category but change to this if not already set. A code can also be applied but is not mandatory.
  4. Set the appropriate Attachment Type (See below)
  5. Press Apply

Attachment Types

There are 4 attachment types. Each type is used to specify the type of attachment and is used in Ticketing to allow the operator to refine the list to the type they are trying to locate.

1. Generic Skip/Container
2. Generic Trailer
3. Skip/Container
4. Trailer

Generic attachments are used where the individual attachment is not specifically known but a nominal tare is still needed to allow for stored tare transactions. This is commonly used for Skip Bin operations.  For example, it may be known that a 3m Skip Bin generally weighs 1.25t, so for operational performance the site wishes to use this nominal tare meaning only one weight needs to be collected.

Known attachments are recorded where the individual container or trailer is known. A commonly used attachment may be recorded using its license plate so that its known tare can be used in a transaction.

Vehicle Record Settings

To create either a known registered attachment or a generic attachment a new vehicle record will need to be created.

Start the Administration program and locate the vehicles tab.

  1. Press apply to create a new vehicle.
  2. Set the license plate to either the known identification for the attachment or a name for the generic attachment E.G. 3m Skip
  3. Set to the applicable vehicle category. When this is changed a number of fields that are available for normal vehicles will be removed from the screen.
  4. If the tare needs to be recorded for this vehicle then check the Use Stored Tare. Note: Generic attachment types will not display the interval period as their tares would never expire.
  5. Select an applicable vehicle configuration for storing the tare is required.
  6. Set the known or nominal tare for the attachment. Note: GVM is not used for attachment so can be left at 0.
  7. Set a default client or carrier for the attachments. Any attachments with a client or carrier will not be visible in ticketing unless the specific client or carrier are selected in the transaction first.
  8. Press the apply button.

Note: Electronic ID will not work for attachments.
