How to set up a vehicle for use at a Driver Control Station (DCS)

This article explains the process required to setup a vehicle so that it can be processed at a DCS. This can either be used to preset transactions for use on a Basic DCS, or to limit the drivers screen interaction on an Advanced DCS.

Vehicles and Dallas Tags on a Basic DCS

If a vehicle is being processed at a Basic DCS with a dallas tag, all possible transaction items must be set as default.  When a vehicle requires multiple options for product, client, source or destinations, a unique vehicle record and unique dallas tag will need to be created for each possible scenario.

For an Advanced DCS, only one vehicle record is required, because product selection can be done on screen.

Creating a vehicle with an Electronic ID

To assign a dallas tag to a vehicle record, follow the steps in this article.

Once the tag has been applied to the vehicle follow the next series of steps to apply default items.

License Plate and Actual License Plate

If a vehicle has multiple possible scenarios that require multiple dallas tags then the License Plate value for the vehicle should identify the what the vehicle is configured for. This is because the License Plate value must be unique and it also helps identify which tag was used for a transaction.

So that the correct license plate can be recorded against the transaction there is an additional field called Actual License Plate. This can be used to record the real license plate for this vehicle record. This is important for regulatory reporting where the government body requires the vehicle license plate.

Default Values

The default values for a vehicle record are configured through the Manage Favorites feature available through the button next to the apply button.

Testing a vehicle record

Testing a vehicle record

Once the vehicle has been configured it can then be tested by either selecting the vehicle in Ticketing using the License Plate or, if possible, by scanning the dallas tag set on the vehicle.

Once the vehicle is selected, the ticket should be automatically populated with the default values defined against the vehicle.

If any required values are missing then this vehicle will be able to store the ticket.
