How to trigger a hotkey from a voucher scan

It is possible for a voucher to be scanned in Ticketing that will trigger a hotkey transaction to be processed. This article explains how to setup a hotkey to work with a voucher scan.

The link between the voucher and the hoktey is controlled by the product. There must only be one hotkey for the product being used. If there is more than one hotkey then the system will not be able to identify the correct one for the voucher.

Create a hotkey using this article that is linked to the product that the voucher will be linked to.

Create the voucher

Any type of voucher payment type can be used, advanced or basic. Use this article for creating an advanced voucher.

For this voucher to trigger a hotkey, the product used in the hotkey needs to be defined for the payment type. This can be done in the following ways:

  • Use the Product Quantity value type and select the product in the drop down box provided (see screen shot above)
  • Using Product Quantity or Maximum Value but defining the product from the Manage Favorites list. Note: Must be only one product in the list (see screen shot below)

Triggering the hotkey

Once all the above has been setup the hotkey can then be triggered by scanning the voucher while on the vehicle selection screen in Ticketing.

Scanning vouchers that have expired

Scanning vouchers that have expired

If a voucher is scanned that has expired because its outside the current voucher season or it has exceeded its number of usages, then the system will not complete the hotkey and the above message will appear.

The cash tendering screen will then be prompted to allow the transaction to be completed if necessary.
