How do I prevent Ticketing from asking for credentials after returning from the Windows lock screen?

Since the introduction of fast user switching/locking in version 3.6 of the Mandalay Facility product, the Ticketing application has been changed so that it locks anytime Windows presents its lock screen. This was introduced as an added security level because a number of Mandalay customers were using generic Windows accounts but then using operator specific accounts to access Ticketing. This had the potential to allow someone to take advantage and use another operators user name without their consent.

Rather than just allowing this feature to be turned off for customers that find this process disruptive, Mandalay are recommending that operators be given a personal Windows account that they use to access the POS terminal. This account can then be setup in Mandalay as their user name and then a setting activated that will allow a single sign on method for users accessing the local Facility applications e.g. Ticketing and Administration. When setup the user does not need to provide a user name and password to access Ticketing and Administration and they will be logged in using their windows user name.

Setting up the user

So that the user can automatically be logged into Ticketing and Administration the user name setup in Administration will need to include the domain name and the user name separated by a back slash. E.g. MYDOMAIN\USERNAME

If the computer is not on a domain then the domain name is replaced with the computers name. e.g MYCOMPUTER\USERNAME

Once set the this user can then be added the appropriate user group in the Facility system.

Note: This does not directly integrate with any Active Directory so users will still need to be maintained within the Facility Administration module.

Local single sign on

To allow a user to access Ticketing and Administration on a local POS terminal without using the login form, a setting will need to be configured on the local computer. If the intention is to change all sites and POS terminals to use this method then the Active Directory (Global) option can be used to set all POS terminal to use this method, otherwise the local option can be used to control each POS terminal that will be used.

In the case where this setting is active and the Windows account is not setup then the login screen will be shown and the user will need to log in with a normal user account that has a password setup.

Note: Please contact Mandalay support for assistance in configuring your system.

Preventing Windows from locking

Another option that can be used is to prevent Windows from going to the lock screen. Please contact your local IT support team for assistance with this, as in most cases this is outside Mandalay's control.
