How to charge a time based product price surcharge\discount
It is possible for Mandalay CS to add a surcharge or discount to the price of a product with defined boundaries. These boundaries could be either date based, time of day, duration, specific site and specific clients.
The following article explains how to setup a surcharge price that is set to start on a particular day and only be active for a certain number of hours for the day.
Categories - Product Price Surcharge
Product price surcharge is set using the Categories tab in Administration. To make it easy to see these categories change the Advanced Search type to Product Price Surcharge.
Create new Surcharge\Discount
Press the Add button to create a new record
Name, Code and Notes
Enter a name for the surcharge and provide a code. The code is not a mandatory item.
Enter a note that describes the usage of the surcharge.
Surcharge\Discount Amount
The amount of the surcharge or discount can be based on either of the two options:
- Per Quantity - This means the products price per unit will be changed by the dollar amount specified.
- Percentage - This means the product price will be changed by the percentage specified.
The amount entered can be a positive or negative value. Using a negative value will provide a discount on the product price.
Product Filter Scope
If the surcharge / discount is not applicable to all products then the filter can be set using the Manage Favorites button.
Unlike the client filter options this is always an inclusive filter so you only ever specify the products the adjustment applies to.
Client Filter Scope
The scope of the client filtering that is set under the Manage Favorites button can be determined by selecting either:
- Exclude Linked Clients - Any client listed will be excluded from the surcharge\discount during the time period.
- Included Linked Clients - Only the clients listed will have the surcharge\discount applied during the time period.
Site Filter
The surcharge/discount can be set against a particular site if required. Leaving this blank will apply the adjustment to all sites.
Date / Time Period Filter
The period that the surcharge\discount can be active for is determined by the following parameters:
- Start Date - This is the date the that the adjustments takes affect.
- End Date - This is the date the that the adjustments should stop occurring.
- Start Time - If the adjustment should only happen at a certain time of the day then this will indicate that time.
- Duration - indicated the number of hours and minutes that the adjustment is active for during a particular day.
The above illustrated example will have the surcharge applied to any transaction between 6PM and 6AM the next date, starting on the 30th of January and will not stop until it is deactivated or an end date is applied.
Client Filter
The Manager Favorites button is used to identify customers to be used within the defined scope of either inclusive or exclusive. Double click or select and press Add to include the available client in the selected list.
Reporting
The Ticketing Details WBR Data Export has the following fields relating to the surcharge\discount values applied.
- Primary Product Surcharge Ex Tax - Shows the surcharge\discount amount applied to the primary product.
- Primary Product Surcharge Unit Rate - Shows the price per unit for the surcharge/discount for the primary product.
- Primary Product Price Per Tonne Ex Surcharge - Shows the per tonne rate for the primary product without the surcharge / discount component.
- Primary Product Ex Tax Ex Surcharge - Shows the amount charged for the primary product excluding tax and the surcharge value.
Note: There are no standard reports provided in Facility Management for show this information so it is only available in Custom Reports.
