Configuration options for Advanced Driver Control stations

The following article details the unattended security setting that are designed to control the features available at an Advanced Driver Control stations. In some cases these settings can also be used at a Basic Driver Control station.

An Advanced Driver Control stations is essentially an instance of the Ticket capture program used by weighbridge operators. These settings are used to control how the driver can interact with these DCS units.

Options available

Options available

The Configuration Manager application provides these sections for controlling the behavior of a driver control stations. The first group of options affects how the Ticketing application will be presented to the driver. The second set of options relates to the control of the work flow for collecting the ticketing data. The third of options control the messages presented to the driver when problems occur or the transaction is completed.

Unattended Security - Vehicle Selection

Unattended Security - Vehicle Selection
  1. Disable System Menu - The options available under the System Menu button (x button) are no longer available as this button will be removed.
  2. Hide Sidebar - The side bar control functions like Ticket History and Till Check. Setting this option will remove the features available in this section of the screen.
  3. Hide Vehicle List - With this option on the list of vehicles will not be presented and the only method for vehicle selection is through electronic identification methods like Dallas tags.
  4. Reset on Weight Below Minimum - If Ticketing is left in an uncommitted state for a transaction (i.e. the driver left before committing the transaction) the system will reset the transaction capture process if it detects the weighbridge dropping below the minimum weight.
  5. Ticketing Watchdog - This will activate a service that will monitor the Ticketing application and will restart the application if it detects that it is no longer running.

DCS Options

Some of these options are not needed in an Advanced Driver control station as they were designed before this device was available.

  • Ask Questions on Way IN - If this is not active and a vehicle is arriving on site then no questions about the transaction will be asked. The outbound process will be used to collect the data about the transactions. This is beneficial for sites where the majority of loads are outbound, such as a quarry.
  • Ask for Contract on DCS  - Deprecated as other configuration options can control this.
  • Allow Cash Payment on DCS - Allows the driver to process cash payments through the cash tendering (depricated by new security options)
  • Allow Overloaded on DCS - Transaction can be completed if the vehicle is detected as overloaded.
  • Allow Repeat Vehicles on DCS - This will allow the same vehicle to be repeated consecutively. Generally this would only be activated for testing as when it is off it protects the system from creating multiple tickets
  • Allow Expired Tare on DCS - If this is active then the system will stored tares to be used if they have expired. This is necessary for situations where an attendant may not be available to assist a driver.
  • Minimum DCS Cycle Time - This is the amount of elapsed time before a vehicle can be processed at the bridge following the completion of a ticket.
  • Post DCS Transaction Delay - Is the amount of delay that the system adds to the automatic transaction process after a dallas tag read to allow operator intervention.
  • Allow Site Access Via Weighbridge - The weigh bridge can be used for access control. So if a vehicle is set to be used in access control then the system will process the vehicle through access control rather than a weigh bridge transaction.

Messages

These setting control the messages displayed on screen when issues occur or the transaction completes.

  • Contact Attendant Message - This message is displayed when the system is unable to complete a transaction.
  • Post Transaction Message -  This message is displayed after the successful completion of a transaction.
  • Global Message Time Out - The amount of time in seconds that a message will be displayed on screen for. Setting this to 0 means that the message never times out.
