How do I report using Approved Agreed Way Methodology

The Approved Agreed Way Methodology is a way to report waste movements using a deemed weight that is not part of the standard deemed weight schedule and has been pre-approved by DES.

To be able to use this option for reporting in your submission, you will need to have the most recent version of the QLD Regulatory Data pack. Please contact the support team if you require this update.

Data Pack Update

The update to the data pack is not compulsory and is only required for operators that need to report using this methodology. The update includes:

  • A new waste stream  - Agreed Way Methodology (AWM)
  • A new vehicle type - Vehicle using NMI verified instrument (O)
  • A new weight conversion entry for the AWM and O vehicle combination. (Note: the deemed weigh value provided is just and arbitrary value and is not used in the reporting process. It is required to allow a transactions to be completed using this method)

Data Setup

Product

The process for reporting using the Agreed Way Methodology requires the setup a of a non weighed product. This non weighed product will be setup with the AWM waste stream and the relevant waste class and waste type for the type of material being reported. A nominal weight will be required and this will represent the deemed weight that has been approved by DES. The stock unit is not important but needs to be one of the non weighed types.

  1. Set to stock unit to non weighed unit. (Each is recommended)
  2. Set the nominal weight to the weight agreed with DES.
  3. Set waste stream to Agreed Way and the class and type as required.

Product Locations

To reduce the data capture process at the time of the transaction the locations required for this waste movement should be defined against the product. Link the source and destinations locations to the product. The locations you used to will depend on the waste movement you need to capture.

Vehicle

The vehicle used for creating a transaction for the Agreed Way method requires the vehicle type to be set to the type - Vehicle using NMI verified instrument (O. A GVM is also required as part of the reporting process so an vehicle configuration will be required.

To speed up the process of capturing these transactions the client can be defaulted to a relevant internal client and the product linked to the product created for the process.

  1. Link to the "Vehicle using NMI verified instrument" vehicle type
  2. Set the default client to an internal client
  3. Set the default product to the one created above
  4. Set a vehicle configuration and GVM
  5. Set the vehicle as internal

Recording the Transaction

To create a transaction for reporting under the Agreed Way method, do the following.

Select Vehicle

Locate and select the vehicle created above.

Complete Transaction

After selecting the vehicle the transaction will be started and all details required for the transaction should be pre-populated. As this is a non weighed product linked to the vehicle the system will default the product quantity to 1. This means you should see the nominal weight set as the deemed weight you wish to report.

Press the Print button to complete the transaction.

Submission

When running your submission the regulatory system will recognise the transaction as an Agreed Way transaction and will perform the following validations:

  • Waste Stream must be AWM and vehicle type O
  • A GVM must be recorded
  • Only one product can be used in an AWM transaction.

If these validations are passed then the system will report the nominal weight for the transaction in the Summary report for the month and will show the transaction in the detailed data file as follows:

Additional Information

It is possible to record an AWM transaction using a weighed product. The net weight required should then be entered through the capture of a gross and tare weight. Its is also possible to use the manual net weight method to capture the weight, but the vehicle will need to have a stored tare to allow the transaction to be processed through the regulatory system.
