Overview of Enterprise Manager

This article provides and overview of the Enterprise Manager application that is used to manage the replication of data between database hosts on an enterprise installation of Mandalay CS.

Enterprise Manager

Enterprise Manager

The Mandalay CS Enterprise Manager application was introduced to provide a simple method of managing the replication of data between site computers and the central database server. It has meant that a system administrator does not need to have a deep understanding of replication in MS SQL Server to be able to setup the replication process.

From this application the system administrator can manage the details of the sites and database host computers used in the enterprise setup.

This application uses MS Silverlight 4, which will need to be installed before being able to run the application.

The Windows account that is running the user interface must be a member of the Administrators group on the server that is hosting the MandalayCS Service, which is generally the same computer that the UI is running on.

Sites

Sites

The site is a representation of a physical site of operations, this includes the head office site.

Hosts

Hosts

Hosts are the computers that have an instance of the Mandalay CS database that needs to be syncronised with the central database. Administration only computers do not appear in this list.

The Enterprise Manager provides and number of different MS SQL jobs that can be run to configure a host for use in the enterprise solution. The jobs available depend on if its the central database server or a site computer.

Publisher

A publisher is the central database used in an enterprise solution. It will publish any changes it receives to all the configured subscribers.

Subscriber

A subscriber is all the computers a the sites that need to receive the data updates from the central database. Subscribers will also send back any updates made to there data back to the central sites.
